Stablecore, the digital asset core that enables banks and credit unions to offer stablecoins, tokenized deposits and other digital asset products, is excited to share that we’ve been selected as one of just five industry partners in the inaugural cohort of Velera's Digital Asset Lab.
Velera, the nation's premier payments CUSO, originally launched the Digital Asset Lab in August 2025 in a research and analysis phase to help credit unions evaluate, test and advance stablecoin and digital asset opportunities. This inaugural cohort reflects an action phase, pairing nine credit unions from across the country with five solution providers: Anchorage Digital, Mastercard, Stablecore, TRM Labs and TruStage Digital Assets.
What our CEO had to say
“Being selected by Velera as a solution provider in this first cohort, alongside a company like Mastercard, when we’re just two years into our story - it says a lot about where credit unions are right now,” said Alex Treece, CEO and co-founder of Stablecore. “Stablecoins and tokenized deposits are not a future roadmap item for these institutions anymore. Their members are asking for them today, and that is exactly the gap Stablecore was built to close.”
Meeting credit unions where they are
Stablecore's inclusion in the cohort reflects a broader shift seen across our credit union relationships this year: interest in digital assets has moved from exploratory conversations to active planning and implementation.
Direct member demand. Credit unions report growing member interest in stablecoin transfers, tokenized deposits and digital asset access, driven in part by clearer federal guidance following the GENIUS Act.
Infrastructure readiness. Stablecore's platform integrates directly into existing and trusted digital banking, core banking and compliance systems, allowing credit unions to launch digital asset products without replacing their current stack or adding another app.
A credit union-first approach. Unlike infrastructure built primarily for large banks, Stablecore's platform is designed for the compliance requirements, member experience standards and operational realities specific to credit unions.
“Credit unions have told us they do not have years to wait and watch,” said Nick Elledge, co-founder and COO of Stablecore. “They are being asked by their members for these products now, and the institutions that move first on infrastructure will be the ones that keep those relationships.”
Through the Digital Asset Lab, Stablecore will work alongside participating credit unions on research, education and evaluation of stablecoin and tokenized deposit use cases, with an eye toward active programming in the closing months of 2026.
